Slipknot Chief Chugger Mick Thomson has had a relationship with quite a few guitar companies over the years, one of the most notable being Ibanez. This is the affordable Indonesian version of his signature guitar, the MTM2, released in 2007.
The looks of this guitar are a bit deceptive. Despite appearances, the bridge is NOT a floating trem, it is in fact an Ibanez Edge III hardtail, but with the features of a trem, like the fine tuner thumb wheels, and locking nut. The idea behind this being keeping the tuning as rock solid as possible. The pickups, although covered like EMG's, are passive. There's one volume control, and a 5 way switch for pickup splitting options. The neck is a thin Wizard II profile, and the 15.75" radius fretboard has jumbo frets - a shredder's delight!
We've set this up in standard tuning, with Ernie Ball Ultra Slinky's for a tighter feeler, although it came from the factory in Drop B and much heavier strings. We can change the setup to a different tuning if you like, but it's locked in E Standard nice n tight now!
