I admit I will be totally bias here, as I am a Les Paul nutter! That said it is undeniable that these models are some of the very best value Gibsons out there today, the build is classic and typical of models costing thousands. A mahogany body and fitted neck, and USA wiring loom, this one has also been upgraded with nice caps and a push pull coil split pot to work for both of the P100 pickups fitted. 
Now people will argue all day long about the P100 stacked pickups, are they a double P90, or a humbucker? Who cares they sound amazing and a little brighter than a traditional humbucker.
Quite why the price difference is a mystery, but damn good marketing by Gibson! These are thin coat nitro finished with a medium 50's neck, not the true fat necks. The finish is satin, which polishes up to a glossier look with use, so the back of the neck is more glossy now.
All working fine and sounding...well exactly like a Les Paul should without having to sell your granny to fund it. Come on, some Epiphone models are more expensive, so surely this is a steal. This one will come with a Gibson "triangle" gig bag.
