Well if it is good enough for Keith and Bob, I guess it is a pretty good guitar.
This is, of course, the legendary Hummingbird from Gibson, the most iconic and most sought after vintage Gibson, and certainly in the top 5 all time classic acoustics.
Now there are many opinions and views spread across the internet on the different eras of the Hummingbirds, with lovers and haters of the different builds, so it really is a personal thing. All I can say is the sound is sensational from this one, exactly what you expect to hear from a vintage classic dreadnought, steeped in heritage.
Being a vintage model there are many known issues that can occur, I will list these in detail, but have to stress for the points shown, this one is set up to a low action and plays cleanly, about as good as you could ask.
The neck was reset in the 70's to compensate for the warp of the top.
It is highly unlikely to find a 70's model with a flat top, these sink around the sound hole and raise a little behind the bridge, however the bridge position is good and allows a great action.
There is a jack socket hole in the lower side.
There is plenty of life in the frets, and the rosewood is good.
These are often offered between £2750 and £4500, so we have take the condition into consideration and are offering this one well below market price. Again I stress this is only because of the points noted, none of which effect the playability of tonal quality.
