When Gibson first launched the compact body ES-339 model at NAMM in 2007 it became an instant favourite and has remained one of the best sellers since.
Some players find the full size 335 too large which is what prompted the 339 to be designed and it is indeed a joy to play, easier and very comfy while maintaining the semi hollow body and "PAF" voiced burstbucker pickups.
The layout is traditional USA Gibson with a 3 way pickup toggle switch and individual volume and tone controls per pickup.
This 2016 model is in very honest tidy condition for a 10 year old. The neck has glossed from use, as expected, but other than this there are no issues, all electrics, hardware, frets and neck are just fine.
It comes as shown with the original COA and hard case.

Full Description

Maple/Poplar/Maple Body

Constructed from a hollow maple/poplar/maple body, the Gibson ES-339 produces a bright, tight, and precise tone with balanced lows and crisp highs. The "F" shaped sound holes allow unique vibration circulation within the body, creating a warm and resonant tone similar to larger acoustic guitars. Finished with an attractive top contour, which is complemented by the satin ebony lacquer, the ES-339 not only sounds great but looks beautifully sophisticated.

Rich Hollow Body Tone in a Compact Size

The Gibson Memphis Satin ES-339 is the perfect choice for guitarists who grew up on solid body guitars, but craved the warmth and tonal complexity of a hollow body. Taking the classic ES-335 body shape and reducing the scale to provide a more comfortable and lightweight design, the ES-339 resonates harmonic richness associated with other hollow bodies. A solid maple centre block is added to reinforce the hollow body, offering feedback resistance and an enhanced sustain.

Historic Maple Neck & Truss Rod

Featuring a traditional "C" profile maple neck with re-designed dimensions, the Gibson offers effortless playability, whilst the set-in construction ensures maximum vibration transferal for long sustains and increased resonance. With an added thickness to the headstock stem, the ES-339 delivers a strong and stable construction ideal for hard wearing playing. The historic truss rod provides superior adjustability thanks to the Teflon coating, larger diameter and robust Brass anchor.

Bone Nut & Rolled Neck Binding

The Memphis ES-339 employs a carefully fitted bone nut to provide an improved tone and sustain over traditional plastic and tusq nuts, improving the vibration transfer between the strings and tuning machines without dampening the tone. The rosewood fingerboard is finished with pearloid block inlays to offer a smooth and quick playability, whilst the rolled neck binding is rounded off to allow a comfortable fit to the contours of the hand.

Burstbucker Humbucking Pickups

The Gibson Memphis ES-339 incorporates a set of Burstbucker humbucking pickups, which are designed to recreate the tone of the classic Gibson PAF pickups. The Burstbucker 1 is located in the bridge position, delivering a medium output with a well-rounded and creamy tone thanks to the alnico magnets and under-wound construction. The Burstbucker 2 is located in the neck position, and delivers a slightly hotter tone similar to '57 classic pickups.

Gibson Memphis Series

Every Gibson Memphis guitar receives an ultra-precise Plek Pro setup, which optimises the fingerboard and nut for perfect action and intonation. Gibson's world-class luthiers took painstaking care with every detail of the ES-339, including fine touches like CTS pots, ceramic capacitors, nickel hardware, and a stunning nitrocellulose lacquer finish. These finishing touches add to the amazing tone and vibe of this incredible guitar, living up to the ES Series' legacy.
