Fender Stratocaster 1979 Original - Hard Tail - Transparent Red

The 70's Strats are identifiable from a 100 yards away! When CBS bought Fender they altered the lines in the 70s; with the large headstock and much more organic/rounded contours, plus the 3 bolt neck with micro tilt. These are something of an icon now and often re-issued.
Well to be clear, this one is not a re-issue, this was made in 1978/79 and all the wear is from many years of pure enjoyment from its former owner.
From what we can see it looks to be all original, no refinishing etc. The frets are classic "tram lines" now, being very flat, but the guitar doesn't suffer ant as a result.
It has been cleaned, serviced and set up and still plays remarkably, with a nice bold set of pickups, darker than the 50's and 60's originals and the reissue sets.

99% of the 79's are a heavier Strat than new ones, including this one. You just know a 79 from its weight and neck profile, which is very comfy and a little more full than a modern skinny style.

The pots date to 1978, which is spot on for these builds, all soldering also looks original.

Now here is the strange thing, you can go and buy a new custom shop reissue for between £3k and £4k. They won't feel or sound like the original simply because they just aren't 45 years old.
