You can go and pay £4k for a replica of this guitar, or you can own the real thing for a fraction of that custom shop price tag! This is a true vintage Fender, a hardtail Strat dating from 1976/77. The dating from this era is often ambiguous as parts were not strictly organised and used in order from the factory, hence many guitars are made from parts spanning a few years.
This one has the 1976 serial number neck, while the 2 of the pickups are dated 77 as are 3 pots, suggesting it left the factory in 1977.
One period pickup has been replaced, matching the set, a pot has also been replaced.
The aging is fabulous, a true "relic" worn over its 48 year journey. Frets are original, as is the bridge and saddles and tuners. We think the plate has been swapped, though the knobs are original.
The chipped lacquer, seen on all maple necks of the era, have been clear filled to prevent any further wear, and also for play comfort.
True mint, 100% original models still demand high prices for this era, making this a great chance for a player to own the real thing.
