OK this is a real typical piece of guitar history! This was bought in the mid 70s when it had a humbucker in the neck position, it was lent to a friend and not seen for 30 years, then returned in its current condition.
We have cleaned and inspected it, but not gone too far on a set up as I strongly suspect it will be broken down and parts used in a project.
Here are the details that we have found.
The neck is an original from April 1973, tuners also look original.
I am 99% sure the pickup is also original, although it looks like the back plate has been lost/removed.
The bridge is original, as are the saddles.
The control plate looks original.
Electrics are replacements, from pickup is generic and modern, scratchplate is also modern.
The body.....now this one has me in a real fix!
Bits that would make it original -----
The contours are correct.
The "no notch" shoulder is perfect for the era, I have compared it to my own.
The radius of the pocket on the left hand side of the pocket is correct.
The gap at the neck pocket is the correct dimensions.
The thick coat is looks/feels right.
Bits that put doubt on the body -----
The timber looks dark.
The humbucker mod route is painted in the same finish as the body.
The lack of marking in the neck pocket means little, not all were marked plus this may have been sanded/modded?
The neck plate holes do not align well, although I do not think the neck plate is original
Please look closely at the pictures and decide for yourself, but in fairness to all we have prices this "guitar" based on the value of the neck, tuners and bridge. The rest is yours to do with as you please!
